 CALL FOR APPLICATION TO THE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME “INTERNATIONAL PRACTICUM” - OB. 2 OF CARIPLO PROJECT
Firms and Universities: local and global networks to educate on innovation
 
Article 1: Description and Objectives
The Department of Economics of the University of Insubria is launching a call to support the participation of selected master degree students to the exchange program “International practicum” funded in the framework of the CARIPLO Foundation project “Firms and Universities: local and global networks to educate on innovation(“PRG 2010/1352-Imprese e Università ob. 3.1”). The program is designed to provide both qualified training and stage opportunities to selected Italian, Ukrainian and Czech masters’ degree students with the aim to educate on innovation and entrepreneurship and to develop management skills in an international context.
 
Article 2: Academic Partners
The Universities participating in the program are:
-        The University of Insubria– Department of Economics- Italy
-        O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv - Ukraine
-        VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava- Check Republic
 
 Article 3: Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of this call are:
-        up to 7 Italian master degree students enrolled to the University of Insubria in Varese;
-        up to 5 students from the Czech Republic enrolled to the Technical University of OstravaVŠB-TU;
-        up to 5 students from Ukraine enrolled to O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv.
Article 4: Candidates requirements
Italian eligible candidates :
  • master degree students enrolled in the Academic Year 2013-14 to the second year of the master program Global Entrepreneurship and Management, Curriculum in International Business or Curriculum Economics of Innovation
  • first year master students enrolled to the Global Entrepreneurship Economics and Management program (GEEM) from academic year 2013- 2014 on (curriculum International Business and Entrerpreneurship and curriculum in Economics of Innovation)..
Czech and Ukrainian eligible candidates:
master degree students (1° or 2nd year) or specialist students, phd. Students that will attend the following subjects: management, marketing, principle of accounting, principle of banking and finance, economics, enterprise economics.
 
Article 5: Activities
Part one: Internship in Varese
The project will take place in academic year 2013-14. In fall 2013, 4 joint team formed by both Italian and foreign students (Czech and Ukrainian) joining the project will be nominated by the professors of the Universities involved in the project. Each joint team will assist an Italian selected company in developing commercial channels for the internationalization of Italian companies in the area towards Ukrainian and Czech markets.
During the first semester of academic year 2013-14, Italian students joining the teams will collect information from selected local enterprises and share them with foreign colleagues of each joint team. Italian Czech and Ukrainian students will work together sharing information, analyzing data on local markets and promoting know-how exchange for the creation of new business partnerships between the enterprises involved in the project.
In Spring 2014 Master degree students from the Technical University of Ostrava and from the O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv will spend a 2 weeks period internship at the University of Insubria attending classes, seminars and workshops and working together in selected enterprises with Italian, Czech and Ukrainian students of each joint team. Members of each joint team (composed of both Italian and foreign students) will develop an action plan for the internationalization of each of the participating enterprises involved, hereafter named “the project”. At the end of the stay in Varese each joint team will present the results of the internationalization plan developed.
Part two: Study tour in Czech Republic and Ukraine
For the selected Italian students, the participation includes one week study tour in Ukraine or Check Republic that will be taking place in May 2014, according to the team joined in the previous part of the program held in Varese.
Partner universities and selected students will be informed about the four selected enterprises located in Italy and the enterprises located abroad before the meeting planned in fall 2013 for composition of each joint team
The activities will be developed according to these main steps:

up to 10 foreign students in Varese (5 Ukrainian and 5 from Check Republic)

 At the end of the project the partners will organize the International Students’ Competition for the Best Internationalization Business Solution.
 
Article 6: Duration
Foreign students will come to Università dell’Insubria in Varese for a two weeks internship in April 2014.
The study tour of Italian students in Ukraine and Check Republic will take place in May 2014 and will last one week (7 days, including the transfer).
The detailed calendar of the activities will be prepared after the joint team is set.
 
Article 7: Cost covered by the grant
Cariplo Foundation provides financial support to foreign students participating to the program activities in Italy.
Cariplo Foundation provides financial support to Italian students participating to the study tour in Ukraine and Czech Republic.
 
Cost covering the participation to foreign students are:
  • air plane ticket (roundtrip, direct flights to Malpensa will be preferred);
  • accommodation in Varese;
  • meals;
  • local transportations (local buses).
Cost covering the participation to Italian students are:
  • air plane ticket (roundtrip, direct flights will be preferred);
  • accommodation in Kharkov and in Ostrava ;
  • meals;
  • local transportations (local buses).
 Students that cannot complete their period of study will be required to return the whole amount equivalent to the cost of the airplane ticket. In no case expenses already borne by students that fail to come to leave will be reimbursed.
 
 Article 8: Selection criteria and procedures
The selection will be taking place according to students’ record and qualifications. Main selection criteria are:
 
  • Academic curriculum (students who have included in their study plan   the courses business planning, entrepreneurship, international business, international business labs will be preferred)
  • Bachelor score
  • English skills (B2 level is required),
  • Interview
  • Attitudes to team working and to the use new technologies (internet and social networks).
 
 English skills and the motivation to join the program will be checked by the commission through interviews. The date of the interviews will be communicated on the Department internet site after the closing of the call. 
 Italian students attending the exchange program will obtain x ECTS credits points at the University of Insubria by completing the “project”
Foreign students attending the exchange program will obtain x ECTS credits points at the foreign universities
 
 The deadline for applications is 23 September 2013 (this is the date stated by Università dell’Insubria in case the target number of students is reached)
Applications received beyond the deadline or missing the candidate’s signature, are ineligible. The University does not take any responsibility for the dispersion of notices due to wrong indication of contacts or due to the change in contacts indicated in the application.
 
 Article 9: Application Procedures 
The candidates will be selected by a Committee chaired by the Director of the Department. The results of the selection will be published on the website of the Department of Economics and communicated to the applicants. After the publication of the results, admitted students have to confirm the acceptance of the scholarship within 7 working days.
Applications must include: 
 
  • a cover letter (see Annex A)
  • the applicant’s curriculum vitae with records of university career and professional experiences (if available)
  • transcript of records or list of courses attended with marks attained
  • language certificate (if available)

Article 10
 The Committee of the University of Insubria collaboratively with O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv will select Ukrainian candidates and publish the results of the selection on the websites of the Department of Municipal and Regional Economy (http://mire.net.ua) and the Department of International Affairs (http://ird.kname.edu.ua) of O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv. Winners must confirm the participation to the program within a week (7 working days).
